Technical Seminar: Hosted by Druk Shito Kai Achieves Success in Ohio

The Technical Seminar on Shito Ryu Karate, organized by Druk Shito Kai and led by Kyoshi A. Tanzadeh, concluded successfully on April 27-28, 2024, with notable outcomes. This event brought together experienced martial artists, dedicated instructors, and eager students, creating a space for growth and deep learning in the martial arts community.
Key Highlights
Veteran Karateka and Dojo Participation:
- The seminar included 12 esteemed veterans and dojo coaches, with 54 students from three dojos. Key participants included Sensei Danny Tamang and Raj Magar from Fargo, ND; Sensei Maya Lepcha, Sensei Ashok Pradhan, and Sensei Nim Lama from PA; Sensei Moni Rai, Sensei Tula Dhakal, and Sensei Yadu Kuikel from OH; Sensei Dumpa Thapa and Sensei Joe from Canada; Sensei Kamal Magar from GA; and Sensei Bishal Gurung from DC. Attendees benefited from Kyoshi Tanzadeh’s guidance, representing the World Shito Ryu Karate Federation (WSKF).
Honoring Pioneers of Karate in the Bhutanese Community:
- A heartfelt tribute was held on the final day for the foundational figures of Shito Ryu Karate within the refugee community, including Sensei Ran Rai, Sensei T. R Rai, Sensei Shiva Jogi, and Sensei Bhim Thapa. The event was graced by City Council member Mr. Bhuwan Pyakurel, with special honors presented to Shihan Thaneswor Rai, the founder of Shito Ryu Karate in Nepal, and Kyoshi A. Tanzadeh for their impactful contributions.
Recognition of Achievements:
- In line with Druk Shito Kai’s commitment to SMART goals, students who excelled in the Junior International Cup and the US Open 2024 in Texas received recognition for their accomplishments. Certificates and honorariums were awarded by Sensei Maya Lepcha to the judges of the Druk Online Kata competition, celebrating their dedication. Additionally, food and lodging provisions were arranged for veteran sensei and dojo coaches, and winners of the advanced division in the Druk Online Kata received reimbursements through their dojo coaches.
Collaborative Efforts and Event Support
“The seminar’s success was attributed to the collaborative efforts of its organizers, including Sensei Moni Rai, Sensei Dumpa Thapa, Sensei Raj Magar, and Sensei Tula Dhakal. The host dojos, Ohio Karate Club, and United Shito Ryu Karate-do were essential in organizing food, lodging, transportation, and venue logistics. Special acknowledgments were extended to Sensei Moni Rai, Tula Dhakal, and Sensei Yadu Kuikel for their management skills and to all the veteran members for their active participation and enthusiasm. The event was also supported by generous sponsors, whose contributions were invaluable to its success.”
The seminar marked a significant milestone in the advancement of Shito Ryu Karate, fostering camaraderie and skill enhancement within the Shito Kai Karate community.
