The Druk Shito Kai dojos: Ohio Karate Club and Fargo Karate Club celebrated the success of their students with a grand Belt Ceremony on December 28, 2024. The ceremony showcased the progress and achievements of the young karatekas, marking their dedication to Karate-do.
At the Ohio Karate Club, the event was graced by Shihan T.S. Rai, Founder of the Nepal Shitoryu Karate-do Association and former National Chief Coach of Nepal, who attended as the Chief Guest. The ceremony also saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Sensei Yadu Kuikel from Druk United Shitoryu Academy and Sensei Ashok Pradhan from Pennsylvania, adding to the occasion’s significance.
During the ceremony, students proudly received their Menjo (rank certificates) and belts in the presence of their parents. The event highlighted the students’ dedication and hard work, and parents expressed their gratitude towards the dojo instructors for their commitment to nurturing the children’s skills and character.

In his speech, Shihan T.S. Rai reflected on the history of Shitoryu Karate within the Bhutanese-Nepali community and its introduction in Nepal and South Asia. He recounted his journey of establishing Shitoryu Karate, inspiring students and parents alike. The ceremony concluded with a memorable group photo to mark the special occasion.

Meanwhile, the celebration was equally lively and meaningful at the Fargo Karate Club. In the presence of parents and guardians, students received their Menjo (Rank Certificate) new belts and awards, recognizing their success in grading and commitment to excellence.
The event at Fargo Karate Club also featured a potluck gathering, with parents volunteering to bring food and snacks, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. Dojo instructors Sensei Raj Magar and Sensei Danny Tamang congratulated all participants on their achievements. In addition to the belt awards, they presented award certificates in various categories, celebrating the students’ exceptional contributions and milestones.
